Chinese limestone as a design element in bathroom

The aesthetic effects that can be achieved with natural stone can also be seen from a project that Castro-De Moor realized on behalf of Immo Holiday. In a rural house, type cottage, the natural stone company from Deinze placed a light-colored Chinese limestone in various large and small sizes. The stone was supplied by Stone Senses, which is co-owner of various natural stone factories in Asia.

Alvaro White

It has been known for a long time that beautiful natural stone material is being produced in China. Stone Senses has a firm foothold and offers a particularly wide range where everyone finds something to their liking. This was also the case with the architect Stephane Boens from Sint-Martens-Latem who designed a cottage in Dudzele in his now widely known rural architectural style. For the upholstery of both the floor and the walls in the classic but at the same time contemporary-looking bathroom, the architect opted for a Chinese natural stone that listens to the name 'Alvaro White'. "In close consultation with the architect, we have individually selected the natural stone slabs," says Patrick Persyn from Immo Holdiay, the real estate office in Knokke-Heist that has been an established value since 1962 in, among other things, the sale and rental of apartments. holidays by the sea and professional property management.

Design and hardness

The choice for Alvaro White not only has to do with the aesthetic power of the limestone. "Of course, the design, which also harmonises beautifully with the building style of the house, plays an important role, but also the physical characteristics, including the hardness of the natural stone, were carefully taken into consideration." We worked together with Stone Senses that provided detailed information and gave us the opportunity to select exactly those plates that were perfectly suited to decorate the bathroom, and the installer has also succeeded in turning the creative ideas of the architect into a striking and tasteful look. end result. "

From small to large size

The sheets that were processed and placed by the team at Castro De Moor averaged 2.85 mx 1.25 m with a thickness of 1.6 cm. "In total there were 17 panels, good for a surface in natural stone of +/- 60 square meters. The designer opted for different sizes, of which the largest placed slabs for the floor had a size of 1.25 mx 1.25 m). The smallest dimensions are found in the sawn-off wall tiles in the showers, which measure 10 cm x 10 cm and are placed in such a way that they form a surprising but very beautiful visual effect thanks to the alternating horizontal and vertical drawing in the stone. Alvaro White limestone did this perfectly and was also one of the reasons why we chose this natural stone. "
